How did you make this?

This song sounds a lot like the original with just a few effects added here and there. I'm just wondering how you are making these. Did you import a MIDI and then change up some things? Did you take an MP3 of the song and then alter it? It sounds so much like the original. A lot of your songs are like this, but have some alterations, some done better than others. That's not really what a remix is. Try making your remixes a little more original and stop with the small differences from the original. I'm not gonna vote on this until I know how you made this.

I get that alot. ^_^'
Here's a response from an email. I'm getting sick of typing it out, so now; every time someone asks... I'm just copy pasting...
"Actually, to be completely honest, I like to think of myself as more of a restoration artist, than a remix artist. Some songs I do remix, but mostly, I attempt to re-capture the original impact that the song had; if not amplify it. If you think that's a waste of time, then take a look at the numbers of some of my downloads. There's alot of demand for it, even if you yourself don't care. I personally enjoy listening to realistic versions of classic songs I grew up with. Who cares whether or not it's creative, if people enjoy it?
Plus, the main reason I started an account as LightOtaku (aside to prove that remix/restoration artists get more attention than original ones), was to better understand the workings of orchestral music. When I restore a song, I take the midi... Disect it... Look at every individual part, and I experiment with it. I take a look at what emotional effects certain instruments have, and why they have said effect. I do this to better my own original work."

I finally did it

I finally got around to reviewing you. :)

Anyways, it was a simplistic piece. It was quite cool. Could've used a little more as it got closer towards the end. I'm not a real big fan of Ambient music, but this is pretty good.

Awesome, I tryed to make this a core ambient piece, so yeah, it's turning out pretty nicely : )

A generic title to a review

Normally I don't listen to songs as soon as they're entered into the portal, but I saw the symbol you used in the name, and I was wondering how you did that. If you want to tell how, just respond to this review.

ANYWAYS! On to the music. It was fairly plain, nothing to new or great. Just could use some more tracks. You should've made it longer too. Fairly interesting piece, but nothing to get excited about. Continue working on the music.

thankyou vary much for good review and critisisom. a rare combo! umm if u have win xp and you go into your start menu u will find a thing called symbol viewer and i chose a random 1 and copy paste just to draw attention and apperenty it worked well!

Tehcno Rock

I see where you get the Techno, but I feel this to be more of a Rock piece, and it makes a great one. I liked the piece overall, but the Guitar was a little too distorted, and some of the song was a little buzzy. You should've increased the bitrate just a little bit to give it a better quality. Great piece.

I'm in a great mood today, so I'll 5 this. :D

Stealth-Emergence responds:

Thanks for your review, well i had a bit of a toughy picking genre, tho it most definitely isn't rock but it has rock elements to it, they don't have electronica as a category i don't think, but i would have stuck it there if they had
and I'm trying to address my audio issues, regarding the clarity, hopefully have that settled soon!

Well thanks again

Peace Out!

Not Heavy Metal

The song isn't dark and, blatantly, isn't heavy enough to be Heavy Metal. For it to be Heavy Metal, it would need a much more riffy guitar, some drums, which it seems like you have none, and maybe a louder bass. You need to add more support to the song. Nicely done, but needs more.

Come check out my new piece: http://newgrounds.com/audio/view.php?id=1682211&sub=62553

fwe responds:

I don't give a fuck. And no, I will not check out your shitty computer made talentless music.

Lacks Structure

You really got something going here. One BIG problem though: the beginning sounds pretty bad. Once you get to a full build, it sounds great. But at the beginning, it sounds empty and bland. Deserves a 4/5, but I'll 5 it just to be nice. ;)

attemptedperfection responds:

thanks for the review, and the 5;
I kinda meant to contrast the beginning like that, but maybe I should've made it a bit more obviously bad...
all in good fun though; this wasn't one of my more serious efforts.
Thanks again for the feedback!

Repetitious

Two things to improve on:

1) Opening build was too slow. Seemed like forever before the drums were finally brought in.

2) Very repatitious. I found this quite annoying. Mix it up a bit more.

Two things I liked:

1) The synth. It was quite a nice DNB synth, but it was very repatitious and could've used more support behind it.

2) The drums. I don't know what kind of kit you are using, but it is awesome.

What I would suggest:

Make another song like this, but keep what I said above in mind. I'm no pro, but it's an idea.

~ DSM

AphelionX responds:

alright...well i the next some im makin i aint gonna change that synth but the repeditiveness i can fix, i guess irushed that this

thax for the comment

More Techno than Trance

Though the piece is pretty good, it's not really a Trance piece. It's more of a Techno piece. Anyways, on to what you can improve.

Bring the main part out more, or whatever part is changing the most. It would sound a little bit better that way.

Though you claim this to be a loop, it doesn't loop very well. You should've worked on loopability a little more.

Good piece overall, and I'm giving it a 4/5.

Awe son! This song is TIGHT!

Twas very good. I would suggest that you fill it up more in some spots. There were a few other spots that were somewhat unclear, and could've used a little bit of mastering. Though it has it flaws, I still love it.

Generic DNB

I haven't seen much of this kind of DNB in a while, and I'm glad to see this piece up here. Nothing that you really need to improve on. Maybe do a little more mixing up with the main synth. Overall a great song.
